HAM LAKE, Minnesota – The Carleton College men's golf team finished in fourth place out of 14 teams competing at the Augsburg Fall Invite held at Majestic Oaks Golf Club.
The Knights shot a 303 (+15) on Sunday to go along with their 302 (+14) in Saturday's round for a two-day total of 605. The University of Manitoba was the winning team (585, +9), followed by St. Olaf College (597, +21) and Viterbo University (602, +26).
Justin Rodriguez's round of even-par was the third-best round on the day by any golfer in the field. He moved into the top ten and finished seventh overall with a round that included five birdies (77+72=149, +5).
Sam Higaki carded an 80 on Sunday and finished in a tie for 8th place (70+80=150, +6).
Dillon Croco turned in a solid round of 75 (+3) to wrap up the tournament in a tie for 16th place (77+75=152, +8).
Gareth Birney and
Eli Slifer rounded out Sunday's scoring for the Knights. Birney shot a 77 on Sunday after a 78 on Saturday to finish at +11 (155) over the 36-holes and tie for 25th. Slifer improved by two strokes on day two for a total of 160 (81+79, +16).
Competing as individuals,
Austin Mak moved up two spots and tied for 20th (77+77, +10),
Oscar Peche (81+79, +16), and
Matt Kang (79+82, +17).
Up Next for the Knights
Carleton will be back in action next weekend when the Knights travel to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to compete at the Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational on Sept. 13-14 at Eau Claire Golf & Country Club.
