HAM LAKE, Minnesota – The Carleton College men's golf team is in fifth place after day one of the Augsburg Fall Invite held at Majestic Oaks Golf Club.
Sam Higaki carded a team-leading two-under par and is tied for third place overall.
Higaki shot three-under par on the front nine, including birdies on holes six, seven, and eight. He was one of two golfers with a total of five birdies on the day. Higaki's round of 70 is one shot behind a pair of golfers tied for the lead.
Justin Rodriguez and
Dillon Croco are tied for 22nd place with rounds of 77 (+5). The pair of Knights was followed closely by teammate
Gareth Birney, who rounded out the scoring for the team at 78 (+6). Rodriguez, Croco, and Birney all birdied hole sixteen, which proved to be the most popular hole for birdies on the day.
Eli Slifer completed his round with birdies on two of his last four holes and turned in a score of 81 (+9).
Three Carleton golfers competed as individuals.
Austin Mak finished the day with a 77 (+5),
Matt Kang at 79 (+7), and
Oscar Peche shot 81 (+9).
