NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Three players finished in double figures as the Carleton College women's basketball team concluded the 2025-26 campaign with a 62-52 loss at rival St. Olaf College.
Audrey Whitney had 18 points for the Knights (7-18, 4-14 MIAC), while
Maggie Winesett chipped in 12 points, and
Liesl McCallum added 11 points.
St. Olaf (7-18, 2-16 MIAC) shot a season-best 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from beyond the arc and shot 43.4 percent overall. Meanwhile, Carleton connected at a 38.0 percent clip overall while going 6-of-19 (31.6 percent) from 3-point range.
Both teams shot over 60 percent during the first quarter, but Carleton trailed 22-16 after the opening 10 minutes as the two sides combined for 12 early turnovers, six by each program.
The defenses found their footing in the second period as St. Olaf shot only 18 percent in the quarter compared to 20 percent for Carleton with each team scoring just seven points. The Oles carried a 29-23 lead into intermission, thanks largely to going 6-of-8 from 3-point range in the first half
Carleton tied the game at 33-33 with 2:43 left in the third quarter, but the Oles scored the next seven points to open up some breathing room and carried a 42-36 lead into the final stanza.
Trailing 46-38 with 7:20 to go, Carleton used a mini 6-0 burst to make it one-possession game midway through the fourth. St. Olaf answered with a 12-3 run and led by at least six points the rest of the way.
Joy Brandenstein paced St. Olaf with a career-high 24 points with three 3-pointers. Erin Schauer also had a trio of 3-pointers as she contributed 12 points, with Elise Hahn adding a double-double thanks to 10 points and 16 rebounds.
This marked the final game in the collegiate career for the three seniors on the Knights' roster:
Opal Burress,
Liz Hiatt, and
Jasmine Maldonado. Unfortunately, each member of that trio sustained season-ending injuries during the year.
