ST. PAUL, Minn. –
Liesl McCallum and
Addy Huss had 16 points apiece, but the Carleton College women's basketball team lost a 71-56 contest at Hamline University.
The Knights (3-19, 2-13 MIAC) out-shot the host Pipers (16-6, 11-4 MIAC) both overall — 44.9 to 41.8 percent — and beyond the 3-point line — 35.0 to 33.3 percent — but it was Hamline's advantage on the glass that proved to be the difference. The Pipers pulled down 20 offensive boards leading to a 22-7 edge in second-chance points.
Hamline utilized a 13-0 run midway through the first quarter to open up 22-5 lead. The Knights closed to within nine points on multiple occasions throughout the contest but were unable to trim the deficit further.
