Knights wrap season with 4-0 Senior Day win over St. Scholastica

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College men's soccer team celebrated Senior Day and closed the 2025 campaign as 4–0 victors against College of St. Scholastica thanks to goals from Briggs Priem, Asher Burt, Hays Turner, and Finn Lennon.

"This group of seniors came in to a program that was really strong, and they made it stronger," said Carleton head coach Bob Carlson. "It was a great way to send them off with a win today."

All eight seniors on the roster saw game action, including Knights' top goalscorer Ben Pennell, who suffered a "season-ending" knee injury in mid-October. He started the game before being given a special round of applause upon his first-minute substitution.

Carleton (9-5-3, 3-4-3 MIAC) concluded the contest with a 16-3 advantage in shots attempted and took 11 of the game's 14 corner kicks.

In the 27th minute, the Knights' sustained pressure bore fruit. After Burt somehow dribbled free of five defenders in a 10-foot area and struck a shot off the right post, Carleton was able to repossess the ball and swing the ball out wide to Lennon. The sophomore defender sent in a cross to which senior midfielder Priem headed downwards and away from the keeper, into the bottom left corner. It was Priem's 17th career goal.

In the 64th minute, Carleton doubled its advantage with a well worked goal. After regaining possession from a St. Scholastica (4-12-4, 3-6-1 MIAC) goal kick, the ball found its way to Burt on the lefthand side. He dribbled into the box, cutting across defenders before slotting the ball into the bottom right corner for the second goal of his debut season.

Carleton notched a third goal less than three minutes later, turning defense into offense. From a St. Scholastica attack, Carleton were able to stuff it out and then counter, the ball finding its way to Turner, who linked up with Vonderloge and Brown, before receiving the ball again. Cutting inside, Turner — who moved from defender to forward following Pennell's injury — found the bottom-left near side for his third score of the year.

Carleton's final goal was scored in the 71st minute. Excellent interplay between Vonderlage, Brown, and Lennon sent Vonderlage through on goal. Instead of shooting, the senior midfielder cut the ball back to Lennon inside the box, and the first-year slotted the ball into the net for his third tally of his rookie campaign.

Senior goalkeepers Leo Kugel and Efram Stewart combined on the clean sheet, the former making two saves and the latter one stop.
