NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Carleton College women's soccer team continued its unbeaten streak, winning 2-0 over visiting Concordia College-Moorhead.
At 7-0-1, the Knights (2-0-0 MIAC) are off to their best start in 40 years, behind only the 1984 squad that began its campaign with a 9-0-1 ledger. Carleton has now gone 24 games without a loss in regular-season MIAC play (19-0-5), the longest run in team history. Their last loss in a conference game came on Oct. 30, 2021 against Saint Benedict.
Carleton struck early in today's contest, grabbing the lead in the ninth minute. The Knights worked their way down the left side with
Kathryn Kresse leading
Claire Burbery into the corner, where the winger squared for
Dylan Baker, who punched home her third goal of the season.
Burbery drew a nice save from Concordia's (6-2-0, 1-1-0 MIAC) goalkeeper Kaitlin Petrich a few minutes later, but it took until the 33rd minute for Carleton to get its second. The Knights slung a corner to the back post, and first-year
Kiana Feldis scrapped the ball over the line for her first career goal.
Baker and Feldis tested Petrich again later in the half, but the game went into the intermission still 2-0.
Carleton was unable to add to its margin after the break despite out-shooting the Cobbers 12-0 in the second half.
Mia Anzalone struck the crossbar in the 80th minute.
The Knights registered their fourth clean sheet of the season, limiting the Cobbers to four shots on the day, while Carleton took 19 attempts with 10 of those on goal. The hosts enjoyed an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
