Cold shooting dooms Knights in loss to St. Scholastica

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – A cold shooting night haunted the Carleton College women's basketball team as the Knights their dropped conference opener to College of St. Scholastica, 70-39.
 
The Knights (1-6, 0-1 MIAC) shot only 27.8 percent in the game while the Saints (3-4, 1-0 MIAC) connected at a 48.1 percent clip.

St. Scholastica jumped out to an early 12-2 advantage only to see Carleton respond with a 9-2 run to bring the hosts to within 14-11 with 3:00 remaining in the opening stanza. St. Scholastica closed the quarter with a 5-0 run, then out-scored the Knights 17-5 in the second quarter and 19-3 in the third period.
 
The Knights found their shooting touch again in the fourth quarter, knocking down 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) shots over the final 10 minutes, but the damage had already been done.
 
Addy Huss led all Knights in scoring with nine points, while fellow rookies Liesl McCallum and Audrey Whitney both tallied eight points of their own.
 
Ava Haus tallied a game-high 19 points to pace the Saints, while and Kloey Lind was 7-for-7 from the floor and added a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Carleton hits the road for a contest at the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday, Dec. 7. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
