EDINA, Minn. – The Carleton College men's golf team extended its lead at the MIAC Championships during the second round, and the Knights will carry a 12-stroke advantage into Monday's final round. Ryan Choi is currently in second place with a 36-hole total of 145 (71-74), one shot behind the leader.
 
"We got off to a slow start but played great golf on the back nine," said Carleton head coach Sloan Wallgren. "It's been an entire team effort this weekend, I'm so proud of all these young men."

The Knights collaborated on a team score of 297 and after 36 holes their team total stands at 589 (+13, 292-297). Concordia College-Moorhead and No. 14 Saint John's University are tied for second place at 601 (+25).  The fourth-place team is No. 16 Bethel University at 602 (+26) followed by No. 24 Gustavus Adolphus College at 605 (+29).
 
Choi carded a 37 on both the front and back nine, posting a score of 74 (+2) for the day. He finished round one in a tie atop the leaderboard and will enter round three just one shot out of the lead. Choi has played the par 4s at +2, tied for second best in the field, and the par 5s at -7, tied for best in the field.
 
Justin Rodriguez had the second-best round of the day shooting even par (72) and moving up nine spots on the leaderboard. He is now in fourth place at 147 (+3, 75-72). Rodriguez finished strong in round two playing the final 11 holes of the day at two-under par.
 
Sam Higaki recovered from an early stumble and tallied four birdies in the middle of his round to finish with a 75 (+3). He owns a 36-hole total of 149 (+5, 74-75) and is tied for eighth place with teammate Gordan Walker who carded a 76 (+4) on Sunday.
 
Dillon Croco rounded out the lineup with an 82 (+10). He is tied for 26th with a score of 156 (+12, 74-82).
