NORTHFIELD, Minn. –
Hadley Twichell scored twice to give the Carleton College women's soccer team a 2-0 lead only to watch host St. Olaf College answer with two scores of its own over a three-minute span in the second half, forcing the intracity rivals to accept a 2-2 draw as the final result.
Twichell's second career multi-goal effort began with a 4th-minute tally. She collected a long pass from
Lauren Caldwell and shot under the charging goalkeeper to give Carleton (8-1-2, 3-0-1 MIAC) the early advantage on the scoreboard.
St. Olaf (7-1-2, 2-1-1 MIAC) nearly found the equalizer in the 17th minute when Knights' goalkeeper
Avery Trapp's leaping save sent an Emily Johnson shot off the crossbar.
The Oles took the first four shots of the second half, but the Knights wer next to score, doubling their lead in the 59th minute.
Kathryn Kresse stole the ball at midfield, sparking a counterattack that concluded with Twichell running onto Caldwell's pass across the top of the six-yard box.
Sadie Klassen and Marit Klagge tallied the St. Olaf goals in the 63rd and 66th minutes, respectively.
Carleton attempted four of the game's final five shots but was unable to break the deadlock.
Trapp finished with five saves as Carleton moved to 20-0-6 over its last 26 MIAC regular-season matches.
