MINNEAPOLIS – The Carleton College women's tennis team improved to 14-0 on the season and 6-0 in MIAC matches with its 8-1 triumph over St. Catherine University.
Mariam Nechiporuk (So./Portland, Ore./Lake Oswego) and
Ingrid Smith (So./Edina, Minn./Edina) both won in singles and doubles.
Nechiporuk and Smith registered an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles followed by an 8-5 win for
Piper Brown (So./Mt. Pleasant, S.C./Porter-Gaud) and
Alise Pedersen (Sr./San Anselmo, Calif./The Branson School) at the third slot. The lone team point for the Wildcats (4-7, 2-4 MIAC) came by an 8-6 tally atop the doubles lineup.
The Knights captured all six singles matches in straight sets.
Amelia Asfaw (So./Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep) defeated regionally-ranked Kelsey Dorr by a 6-2, 6-4 margin at No 1 singles.
Mary Hose (Jr./Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) notched her fifth consecutive victory, this time taking down her opponent at the second spot by a 6-2, 6-0 score.
Nechiporuk ran her win streak to 10 matches by prevailing 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot. Meanwhile,
Miriam Shteyman (So./Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) tacked on a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles, her fifth straight victory.
Smith improved to 9-1 in dual matches as she proved victorious by a 6-3, 6-3 tally at the fifth slot, while
Zoe Rose (So./Tacoma, Wash./Charles Wright Academy) kept her unblemished singles ledger intact, cruising to a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles and moving to 12-0 on the season.
