Gustavus takes control early in downing Knights

ST. PETER, Minn. — A cold shooting performance and 24 turnovers led to the Carleton College women's basketball team dropping a 75-40 contest at Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday.

The Gusties (9-2, 6-2 MIAC), who are receiving votes in the national top-25 poll, never trailed on the afternoon. The hosts shot better than 40 percent in each quarter, while Carleton (2-7, 1-6 MIAC) shot below 30 percent on the day.

Gustavus led 21-8 after the opening quarter and carried a 36-15 advantage into intermission. The Knights out-scored the Gusties 17-15 in the third quarter, but the home team pulled away in the final period and moved into a five-way tie atop the conference standings.

The Knights were led in scoring by Jasmine Choi (Jr./Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo), who tallied 10 points along with four rebounds. Amelia Solt (Fy./Loveland, Colo./Thompson Valley) contributed nine points, with Aurora Davis (So./Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin) tying her season-high with seven points off the bench as she was 3-for-3 from the floor and made her only 3-point attempt. Bella Thomas (So./Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle) chipped in six points and grabbed four rebounds.

Anna Sanders and Emma Kniefel had 16 points each to lead a balanced Gustie attack that saw six players score at least eight points.
