NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The accolades continue to pour in for Carleton College senior Kent Hanson (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy), who was selected for All-America Honorable Mention by D3hoops.com. He became the seventh member of the Carleton College men's basketball program to ever receive All-America recognition (SEE CHART BELOW).
 
"Kent has been one of the most well-rounded and versatile players in the MIAC during the past several decades," said Carleton head coach Guy Kalland. "His impact on our program is immeasurable as he has sought to improve in every facet of his game each year. He is unwavering in his commitment to realize his potential on the court, in the classroom, and in his life. Kent is, without question, one of the most team oriented and conscientious players I have ever coached, and one of the most delightful people I have ever met."
 
Since the conclusion of the 2019-20 campaign, Hanson has taken home the following honors:
• All-MIAC Team (third time in his career)
• Jostens Trophy finalist
• D3hoops.com All-West Region Team (second time in his career)
• D3hoops.com All-America Honorable Mention
 
The D3hoops.com All-America list includes 25 players, divided up with five players apiece landing on the first through fourth teams plus All-America Honorable Mention. Each of these units included three guards and two frontcourt players.
 
This season, Hanson averaged career highs of 20.1 points and 8.3 rebounds, ranking him second and fourth in the MIAC, respectively, and placing him seventh and 11th in the West Region. He was 1 of 2 players to rank among the MIAC's top-4 in both categories and 1 of only 3 players to finish inside the West Region's top-12 in each stat.
 
A productive inside-outside threat, Hanson shot .515 on the season, including a MIAC-best .448 from beyond the arc while pacing the conference with 64 made 3-pointers. Hanson's 3-point percentage ranked third-best in the region and 19th in the nation, making him the lone MIAC player to rank among Division III's top-150 perimeter shooters, while his overall field-goal percentage placed him fifth among conference players on the national leaderboard. Hanson's six double-doubles this season tied him for third among MIAC players.
 
One of 10 national finalists for 2020 Jostens Trophy, which is awarded to the outstanding D-III basketball athlete of the year, Hanson was the only NCAA Division III player—and 1 of only 3 across all three NCAA divisions—to average at least 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists this season while shooting better than 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.
 
Hanson is 1 of only 6 active NCAA players (from all three divisions) to amass 1,600 career points while averaging 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.4 steals per game over his career.
 
He was joined in receiving D3hoops All-America Honorable Mention by fellow MIAC star Booker Coplin of Augsburg University.
