ST. PETER, Minn. -- After a five-game homestand, the Carleton College women's basketball team returned to the road to face Gustavus Adolphus College. Although three Knights reached double-figure scoring in the contest, the visitors were unable to keep pace with the Gusties' superb shooting, falling 90-61.

Gustauvs (15-5, 11-4 MIAC) shot 58 percent in contest, including an 11-of-19 (58 percent) performance from behind the arc. That was the most 3-pointers yielded by the Knights (7-13, 4-11 MIAC) since mid-November.

Carleton jumped out to a 5-0 lead to begin the game, but Gustavus quickly responded with a 14-3 run of its own. After
Katie Chavez (Sr./Westminster, Colo./Holy Family) hit a three that pulled the Knights within 14-11, the Gusties mounted another 12-0 run—aided by a trio of 3-pointers—to go up 26-11 with 1:29 left in the first quarter.

The Knights were able to reduce the deficit to single digits twice early in the second quarter, but Gustavus closed the half on a 14-3 run and led 46-27 at halftime. The Gusties were 7-of-12 from long range in the half.

The hosts maintained at least a 17-point advantage throughout the second half.

Samantha Cooke (Sr./St. Louis, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy) led the way for the Knights, contributing 18 points as well as five rebounds. She was joined in double-digits by Chavez, who scored 14 points, and
Aiana Whitfield (Fy./Richfield, Minn./Belinde-St. Margaret's), who chipped in 10 points to go along with four assists.

Gustavus had two players reach 20 points, as Caitlin Rorman (23) and Anna Sanders (22) combined for half of the Gusties' total. That duo combined to go 17-of-22 from the floor, including 6-of-7 from beyond the arc.
