Five Knights voted to All-MIAC squad

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Five members of the Carleton College women's soccer program were named to the All-MIAC First Team by conference coaches: forward Claire Burbery, defender Sam Gotch, defender Zaraya Jordan, midfielder Kathryn Kresse, and goalkeeper Avery Trapp.

That quintet has helped Carleton to a 16-2-2 record — tied for the second-highest win total in program history — and a third consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships. This year's team joins the 1984 squad as the only times that the Knights saw five players earn All-MIAC First Team recognition.

This is Burbery's first all-conference recognition. The senior is pacing the Knights with 9 goals — tied for sixth among MIAC players—and is tied for tops on the squad with 5 assists for 23 points. She scored game-winning goals versus Simpson, Concordia-Moorhead (as part of a first half hat trick), and Saint Mary's.

Gotch, who was also voted to the All-MIAC team in 2023, chipped in 4 goals and 3 assists. She tallied game-winning goals versus Carthage, Wisconsin-Platteville, and St. Scholastica.

Jordan's first career goal accounted for all the scoring in the MIAC Playoff Championships victory that officially punched Carleton's ticket to the NCAA tournament. This is her second consecutive All-MIAC award.

Kresse was tabbed for the All-MIAC First Team for the third straight season, becoming the eighth player in program history to accomplish that feat and the 16th to collect all-conference recognition (any level) for three or more seasons (see chart below). This fall, she has accounted for 7 goals and 5 helpers, giving her 32 career scores and 20 career assists. Kresese ranks second in recorded team history for career goals, career assists, and career points (84).

Trapp, also an All-MIAC pick in 2024, becomes the first Carleton goalkeeper since Catie Stillman in 1991 and 1992 to earn All-MIAC First Team status twice. Trapp ranks second among MIAC keepers this season shutouts (10), save percentage (.864), and goals against average (.467). With 27 career shutouts, Trapp is already the program record holder.

The play of Burbery, Kresse, and Gotch helped Carleton score 2.35 goals per game, third among MIAC squads and 69th in NCAA Division III. At the other end of the field, Gotch, Jordan, and Trapp led to the Knights surrendering only 9 goals this fall (.448 goals against to rank ninth in d-III).
